October through to November is packed full of events and the coast was lucky enough to host the Gold Coast Show, Broadbeach Jazz Festival and the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. Even if you missed these great events, there are many more to get excited about. With the Gold Coast 600, Opera on the Beach and the ever popular nightlife, you’ll always find something to do when you come to visit.
On October 20-22nd the Gold Coast 600 will be racing through the streets of Surfers Paradise once again. Witness the supercars doing battle through the local streets, and be sure check out the destination bars and chill zones.
Plus, you won’t want to miss out on the Saturday night entertainment as Hilltop Hoods, Violent Soho, Montaigne and Dean Lewis take the stage. Concert access is strictly limited though, so you’ll want to book your tickets early.
In addition to the big name music acts, there is a range of merchandise for sale and plenty of photo opportunities so make sure you get your tickets and organise your accomodation before the good spots and tickets are gone!
If you’re looking for a more cultural night out you can’t miss Opera on the Beach held between the 21st and 30th of September. Coolangatta Beach will be transformed into an Egyptian wonderland for a production of Aida. The story covers a royal love triangle and even our local surf life savers will be getting involved.
There are only 6 performances each starting at 6:30pm right on the beach. Prices start at $35 per person for C Reserve and if you want the best seats in the house, tickets are going for $90 each. You’ll want to be quick to make sure you get a good spot.
If you’re looking for a good night out while in town there are plenty of options to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a nice night out for dinner and drinks, or want to dance till the sun comes up Coolangatta and Kirra Beach have you covered.
For a nice dinner with a view, why not head to the Ivory Tavern and overlook the Tweed River and marina. It has a relaxed pub vibe, with 5-star views.
If you’re looking for something a little fancier, you’ll want to head to The Strand. Try Bin 72 for an intimate environment with decadent wines, unique cocktails and amazing food. Always very popular as well is Delizioso , with award winning modern Italian dining, or Bellakai for modern Australian dishes with a view.
If you’re looking for something more casual, try Thanh Binh Bamboo, Beach Burrito, Top
Noodle or Earth-N-Sea – They all have delightful food and that Southern Gold Coast relaxed feel just so close to the beach.
Whale Watching
There are still weeks to do what we’d all love to do every day –get in touch with awesome nature!
The whale watching is in full swing on the Goldie and helping you getting up close to majestic hump backs is Spirit of the Gold Coast. The Spirit crew welcome you on board from 9:00 am every morning right up to the end of October. You venture out through the Seaway and find the playful humpbacks in no time at all. They really are an active species that seem to simply love showing off their majestic 40 tonne strength. You can always tell when a whale sneaks up with curiosity and pops up by the boat as no-one can help oohing, aahing and generally feeling the joy of the moment.
Some images shared from our recent trip out – yes these images just from our single trip early September.
