GOLD COAST 600

JOIN THE RACE FOR YOUR TICKET!

The Australian motorsport community is raring and ready to go for the annual Vodafone Gold Coast 600 supercar event. The world’s best drivers will battle a 2.96km circuit around the Broadwater precinct as the crowd battles to roar over the sound of the engines.

This year will mark the first inclusion of the Super Utes segment, replacing the traditional V8 Utes with dual-cab, turbo diesel machines including Holden Colorado, Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsibushi Triton, Mazda BT-50 and Isuzu D-Max contenders.

Meanwhile, the Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks, which can race on virtually any surface, will bring the high-octane sport of off-road racing to the main stage.

The Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia will also be a major drawcard, with the introduction of the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, which is faster, safer and more affordable than its predecessors.

Boasting a 1.2 litre, 125bhp, twin-cam, 16 valve engine that revs to 11500rpm, the Aussie Racing Cars ll are set to prove that good things come in small packages, with speeds in excess of 200kph.

Don’t miss The ShowTime Freestyle Moto X, featuring Matt Mingay’s notorious Hot Wheels Stunt Team, for an adrenaline-filled display of dangerous motorbike stunts and aerial antics.

Stock up on your favourite team merchandise, enjoy a drink at the Coopers Roll Bar and grab a bite to eat. Book your stay at Kirra Beach Apartments NOW to join the action! Visit www.supercars.com/gold-coast for more information on this exciting event.

BUSKERS BY THE CREEK

FROM ‘BUSK’ TIL DAWN

It’s that time of year again… time to dig out your dancing shoes and spare change (no, seriously) for a trip down to Winders Park in Currumbin for the annual Buskers By The Creek festival.

Enjoy the sounds of samba, Afro-Brazilian drums, award winning musicians, talented teens and swing – there’s something for music lovers of every genre!. The

Byron Bay Bluesfest Busking Champions will also make an appearance and you might even discover the next ‘big thing’ as a profusion of emerging singer/songwriters vie to fill their violin cases.

Fight the ennui as you revel in the work of eclectic performance artists and painters, or delight in the food masterpieces on offer from top local chefs and brewmasters.

Parking is available at Currumbin Primary School for only $5 and Gold Coast Cabs will be on constant rotation, kindly offering $2 fares (from specific locations).

This is a family-friendly event and Karma Kids will provide a variety of workshops, crafts, circus activities and music for the kids. Due to popular demand, a child minding service will also be available. For further information or to book, phone Skye on 0407 400 518.

COOLANGATTA NIGHT LIFE

A NIGHT ON THE TOWN

Looking for a fun night out with friends during your stay? There’s a vast array of premiere night spots on offer in Coolangatta, only a short scenic trek over the headland from your apartment.

Grab your tribe and head to Hotel Komune Beach Club – home of the Quicksilver Pro Entertainment Hub, Australian Titles Official Party, Miss Universe Fashion Events and Bleach Festival events – for cocktails, Coronas, (outdoor) cinema and cabanas by the pool. Keep the good vibes going until midnight each Friday, Saturday or Sunday with a host of local and international artists including resident DJs, Flo and Fletcher.

Experience a slice of Gold Coast history and head to the iconic Cooly Hotel – which first opened its doors in 1911 and is still going strong – for a few sneaky beers or a bite to eat (think fresh, light meals or pub classics) with your mates, while you enjoy some of the world’s best surf breaks as a stunning backdrop. Cheers to that! Grab your ticket to some of the best local and international musical acts in The Bandroom upstairs; or take advantage of free coverage of all the biggest fights and sporting events downstairs in the Beach Bar. On Saturday October 13, for one night only, Cooly Hotel will bring the bush to the beach with one of Australia’s biggest country bands, Eight Second Ride, performing live. You can even attempt your own eight second ride on a mechanical bull, by competing in the Cooly Elite Rodeo Championship. Tickets are only $15 and are available at the door or online at www.thecoolyhotel.com.au.

You’ll find the best of both worlds at Twin Towns Services Club, which spans the border between QLD and NSW, unifying the two cities of the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads. Only a quick Uber ride from your apartment, Twin Towns continually attracts big ticket names for low ticket prices, appealing to a wide audience of all ages. The club’s upcoming line-up of big name events includes the Bay City Rollers, Herman’s Hermits, Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase, Samantha Jade, Boney M and Troy Cassar-Daley – so there’s something for everyone! Why not make a night of it and grab dinner at one of the seven restaurants or an after show drink at one of four bars? For more information visit www.twintowns.com.au.
