Gold Coast Show – Buskers by the Creek – Broadbeach Country Music Festival – Markets

This month the Gold Coast is proud to be hosting Cooly Rocks On and the Broadbeach Country Music Festival. With events like the Gold Coast Show and Buskers by the Creek coming up and the rising popularity of street food and festivals, it’s time to start planning your next Gold Coast holiday – there is always something on for you and the family to enjoy. Plus, if you make Kirra Beach your base you will be minutes from the airport and on one of the best stretches of beach the coast has to offer.

The Gold Coast Show has been around since the 1950’s although it was called the The Southport Show before its name change in 1959. This year it will be held on September and is conveniently located at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

This 3-day event that gives the Gold Coast its own public holiday is loved by locals and visitors alike. With rides, attractions, live entertainment and show bags everyone will find something to love. Plus, there are a range of competitions to enter or enjoy.

Whether you are a fan of the arts and crafts, want to see the woodchoppers or are an animal lover and want to see the best in show (with dogs, goats, poultry, cattle, horses and even rodents battling it out for the title) there is a competition for you to check out and cheer your favourites on.

For a lazier day out why not check out Buskers by the Creek held on October on the bank of Currumbin Creek. This unique event celebrates the unique art of busking and over 300 artists will showcase their talents by the creek. Fire twirlers, musicians, artists, dancers, and magicians will dazzle you with their performances. And while you’re taking in the entertainment you can try the international fare – with dozens of food stalls representing a number of cultures, you’ll love the classic flavours and trying something new.

The event itself is free, but you may want to bring a little bit along to support the artists if you’re impressed or to purchase food and drink – or you can simply bring an esky and set up a picnic and enjoy the atmosphere.

There has been a noticeable rise in popularity of local markets and as a result there are now dozens of markets for you to check out.

On the 2nd Sunday of every month from 8am-2pm are the Coolangatta Art and Craft Markets. They are held beachside and include a range of handmade goodies, jewellery, bags, clothing and food stalls.

Every Saturday morning from 7am-12pm are the Burleigh Farmers Markets. These markets are popular with locals, some of  which do all of their weekly shopping here. They are a wonderful way to see the local produce plus there are a number of take away food places if you want a quick meal or snack.

On the 3rd of each month from 9am-2pm are the Gold Coast Design Collective Markets – this is the place to find undiscovered talent and it is full of budding artists, designers and makers. The perfect place to find that special gift or to purchase a token of your holiday that you’ll actually love putting on display.
