The Gold Coast is a wonderful place to visit during the school holidays, and the upcoming June/July break is no exception. Although the weather is cooler, the beaches are still as beautiful as ever, and most days are still great for a swim or a beach walk.

It’s the perfect weather to check out any of the four major theme parks, to visit the national parks, or go for a wander through Mt. Tamborine – don’t forget to pick up some freshly made fudge while you’re there.

You could also check out the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, take a tour of the park on seaways, watch a wildlife show, challenge yourself on the ropes course, feed the lorikeets or cuddle a koala. Our stunning region really is the perfect destination for the whole family.

Perhaps you can check out Mary Poppins the Musical at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. It will be showing from June 17 to 25 – kick back and breathe it in as this classic tale is brought to life.

Otherwise, If you’re up for a little bit of a drive, you could go and visit O’Reillys for a relaxing walk through the rainforest. Stroll the rainforest canopy on a suspended bridge, climb the tree ropes and look out over the hinterland for a spectacular view

When you finish the day’s adventures, there’s an amazing array of dining options within a skip and a hop when you stay with us at Kirra Beach Apartments. Here are some of our favorite nearby hangouts:

The Black Sheep Espresso Baa is the perfect coffee house for breakfast or lunch. The service is wonderful, the coffees are large (you can even order a bowl!), and they’ll even offer a picnic blanket to enjoy your food on the beach.
‘The Michael’ is their specialty, and well worth checking out – after all, who doesn’t like runny poached eggs, a spot of avo on toast and some of the best bacon this side of Byron? Regardless, there’s heaps more on offer at this cruisy, comfy little locale. Located on the Coolangatta esplanade you can sit and enjoy your meal or a coffee, while watching the ocean and the hustle and bustle of this iconic street.

Bin 72  is an Award winning dining and bar, This restaurant has been opened for more that 18 months now and is continuing to impress clients close and a far, The food’s design interests us as much as that of the venue. Open at both lunch and dinner, The menu is built around small and large plates,

supplemented by specials. It’s in the ‘need to try’ category – some of our best casual cuisine on the coast. Try the Pulled pork taco with pickled wombok, sensational Crab-filled fried zucchini flowers and Beef cheeks with green beans, tahini sauce, fennel salad and fried shitake mushrooms. It really is a favorite of mine.

Another local favourite is Kirramissu – featuring a large selection of breakfast and lunch options, freshly squeezed juices, and spectacular ocean views, you’ll likely find yourseld dining here more than once! Located at 28 Musgrave Street, this is the perfect place for a hearty breakfast or lunch.

If you want something a little different you can’t go past Bread N Butter, renowned for it’s cocktails, tapas and woodfired pizzas. The ambiance of this venue really tells a story, and is often a choice hangout for those looking or something a little different. Walls lined with unique artwork, and musicians playing a variety of music; it’s a funky environment, with delicious food.

If you want something a little more casual, you can’t go past Burger Lounge. They offer a great range of fresh burgers, yummy chips and a casual and friendly environment.  Their burgers are massive and packed full of flavour – but they also do mini burgers for those with smaller appetites! This groovy, welcoming little place is located on the corner of Musgrave and Douglas Streets, Kirra

And, for the sweet tooths chasing an after dinner snack, you can’t go past My Gelato Kirra. With a new display each day, you won’t be able to try all of the delicious flavours before you go (but you’ll certainly have a reason to come back!). They even offer a take home pack so you can enjoy it from the comfort of your room, or across the road at the beach.
